Preview: Mike’s Thoughts On LA
Here’s what Strategist Mike Buckley has to say ahead of the Rolex Los Angeles Sail Grand Prix

Homeward bound
There's nothing better than racing at home. So to be here in the US, and getting out to LA after what they've gone through in the last few months, is something we've been looking forward to for a while. For us, having home races at three of the most energized cities in America — New York, LA and San Francisco — it's special. It’s special to be able to race in these cities that have so many people doing so many epic things. So it’s going to be exciting to get out there to LA and I can't wait to get my hands dirty in the community. We're going to do some stuff with some people that were affected by the wildfires, and it’s exciting to meet new people. We have a bunch of partners coming, too, so it's shaping up to be an awesome week.
Testing track
It's a really tight racecourse in Los Angeles. LA typically has a nice little afternoon sea breeze and flat water, which would be nice. If the conditions are kind of the standard LA afternoon conditions then it's going to be a great show. And with 12 teams on the tight racetrack there — it's a really, really small racetrack — it's going to be chaos.
Aims and aspirations
We're always looking to improve and we've had an up and down season so far. We had an up and down season last year, too, so we're just looking for more consistency. What we know is that when we all do our jobs well as individuals, then usually our team performs quite well. So we'll just all be looking to refocus on our own individual jobs and then come together as a team — and hopefully give the fans something to cheer about.
Away from the race
We're also going to be announcing a new partner, rolling out our new website and app and announcing a new board member. So it's really exciting to see some progress. It's gonna be a really exciting week, even before the racing gets started!
