U.S. SailGP Team 2025: Where We're At

Here’s how things are shaping up after the season’s opening exchanges
Published 02/19/2025
The SailGP 2025 table is starting to take shape after three rounds of the season, with Emirates GBR sitting in pole position. The British outfit top the rankings after Grands Prix in Dubai, Auckland and Sydney, having racked up 27 points across those events. That’s largely thanks to a victorious performance in Round 3 in Sydney, but is also testament to their consistency so far, having placed second in Dubai and third in Auckland.
Australia are hot on the heels of the leader-leaders, though. They triumphed at the ITM New Zealand GP in Round 2, but were disappointed to only come third during their home race last time out — as driver Tom Slingsby suggested after the final. “I think everyone thought we were a shoe-in there and it didn’t go our way, but that’s sport,” he said, before adding: “We didn’t sail well enough in the final race and that’s the reason we lost.” Regardless, Australia are just three points off the top (24), closely followed by Spain and New Zealand on 20 points apiece. Driven by Diego Botin, the former secured a second-place finish in Auckland, while New Zealand won the Emirates Dubai GP — but only placed eighth in Sydney.
There is still plenty of time for things to change, of course, with 11 rounds of the campaign remaining. The United States team will be hoping to climb the table over the coming months, after making a strong start by finishing third in Round 1. They have the perfect opportunity to bounce back from a difficult few days in Australia, with the next two Grands Prix taking place in the US.
The season continues in mid-March at the Rolex Los Angeles GP, before moving on to San Francisco the following week.
